Wolf Tooth Tanpan
The shortage of parts with the pandemic got us to be more creative to have our bike season going forward. My new sponsor Panorama Cycles provided me with a bike frame and as part of our deal, I had no drivetrain components provided with the bike. I had an old Shimano 2x11 “road” groupset laying around and recently found an SLX MTB rear derailleur with a clutch so I could use it as a one-by (1x) drivetrain with a big mountain bike style cassette up to a 50 tooth cog. To make the road shifters work with the MTB rear derailleur, an adaptation of the cable pull ratio is necessary so that the small pull from the shifter, makes a big pull on the MTB derailleur.
Happy Feet
There is as much foot morphology as there are fingerprints. My feet are very capricious: semi-flat feet and, as a bonus, I have two toes stuck together on both feet (this does not change anything to shoe comfort though). Feet are one of the most important contact points on the bike. This is where all the power goes, hence shoe comfort is an often overlooked and important part of the performance as well as the best investment to make your rides more enjoyable!
A-Crohn’s Canada
In 2018, I crossed Canada on my bike in 33 days. Why? I needed a break from my PhD and I was just diagnosed with Crohn’s disease a few years before. Also, I couldn’t say no to my friends who challenged me to do it... Here is the story of my fundraising for the Crohn’s and colitis Canada foundation.
